We Salute You All!
As another fabulous Wilkswood Reggae Festival comes to an end, we have to thank everyone involved. And if you’re ready to go again, Super Early Bird Tickets are now on sale for Wilkswood Reggae 2025!
Another successful Wilkswood Reggae Festival comes to a close for another year and what a festival it was. Even the rain on Saturday evening failed to stop play as once again the festival was a sell out. There were some weary foot soldiers heading home on Monday after four days and nights of solid entertainment and partying but there were plenty of happy smiles and fond memories.
The management team at Wilkswood Reggae salutes everyone involved.
Let’s begin with the amazing artists, over 60 in total, who appeared across three stages. There are too many highlights to list but there were amazing sets from the evergreen Johnny Clarke, the super energetic General Levy, festival acid dub from Zion Train on Thursday and shed-shaking sonic assaults from Mad Professor to close the festival on Sunday. And what a weekend for the women: Shniece, Dub Princess, Aleighcia Scott, Amarra and Askala Selassie all lit up the main stage.
Elsewhere the sound system arena continued to shake to the sounds from Iration Steppas, Sinai Sound and Countryman Sound. And the Bangmix Stage showcased poet John Agard, Wilkswood legend Selah Collins, Guire and the Golden Guild, Tenja, Shannon B and DJ sets from David Katz, DJ Shunz, Sistren Shirley and Warriah Force amongst a cornucopia of top, top talent (compiled by the ever-enthusiastic Kim West).
Then we’d like to thank all the crew and sound engineers working behind the scenes to keep the music flowing and the entertainment (special thanks to Rik and the Stage Light Sound team). Let’s not forget the stewards and ticketing staff (many of whom were volunteers), the traders and bar staff, the Cub Hub team, the security, the St John’s ambulance crew and, of course, Farmer Paul for letting us have his farm for a few days.
But most of all we’d like to thank you, yes you, for coming along and supporting the festival for another year. Without you (and another 2,499 like you) there would be no Wilkswood Reggae Festival and you are the only reason that we put in the effort to make each festival as exciting and as memorable as the last. We know you love your reggae and we know you love this special little festival so as long as you keep coming, we will continue to build it.
