Line-up 2016

The first Wilkswood Reggae Festival was a one-day event (with overnight camping) which took place at Wilkswood Farm on July 23rd to 24th.

Billed as “a family friendly day of roots reggae and dub”, the festival had a capacity of just 500 but its success provided the momentum for future events.

The festival featured over 20 live acts and soundsystems including:
Festus Coxsone, Solo Banton and the Uppercut Band, The Gongz, Dubheart, The Dubateers, Countryman Soundsytem, IOJ Family, Bunnington Judah, Amelia Harmony, Selah Collins, Three Lions, Roots Inspiration, Boy Le Monti, Ted Lavender, Daddy-U, Small Axe, Ras Bashy, Rum runner 12v Soundsystem and Naomi Gooch.

Festus Coxsone

Festus Coxsone was born in Jamaica in 1951 and is one of the founding fathers of the reggae scene, with an unparalleled knowledge of black music from r&b, ska, rocksteady, rubadub to the original roots of reggae.

Solo Banton and the Uppercut Band

Nine-piece band festival favourites, well loved on the underground scene by dedicated bass heads.

The Gongz

Super Four, Chucky Banton and Jah Buck tour with Trojan Sound System as their MCs; all three will perform together at Wilkswood Reggae Festival with their own band, The Gongz.

Dubheart

After proving themselves to be more than worthy of playing on some of the biggest stages in the European reggae scene, Bournemouth’s Dubheart are already hitting the rest of the world with their vibrant, live and organic dub show. This is true roots rockers music, harking straight back to the heart of 1970s Kingston Jamaica with a fresh UK edge.
